Nurtured Mothers Group In Melbourne

Birth is so much more than having a baby. It’s also the birth of you as a mother. It’s one of the most profound and unravelling experiences of your life, altering you physically and emotionally on many levels. Whilst you’re falling in love with your baby, you’re also faced with so many challenges. Now days many women become mothers without the postnatal support and village of old. This can leave you feeling overwhelmed while trying to navigate this new journey of motherhood.

We at Nurtured Birth are very excited and passionate about bringing this series of gatherings together for you mamas and our dear community. It’s a safe and precious space of connection, mother crafting and guidance.

This postnatal support group will run for 5 weeks. Its aim is to support and cheerlead new mothers to develop confidence in their parenting while sharing their journey with other like-minded women.

Some of the topics covered in the series will include:

  • Transitioning to motherhood
  • Self care/filling up your cup
  • Postnatal support for nutrition and breastfeeding
  • Newborn sleep and settling in the first 3 months
  • Postnatal challenges
  • Attachment parenting
  • Connecting with your baby.

Numbers are limited to 12 mother-baby pairs

Day: Tuesday’s 10:30am-12pm
Place: The Nook 61 Howitt Rd, North Caulfield.

Facilitator – Cass Stephens – Midwife, Childbirth Educator & Postnatal Doula

After many years of working with mothers, along with her own personal experience as a mother, Cass deeply understands both the joys and challenges of motherhood. Cass also recognises the need to improve on the support available to mothers in the postnatal period. Cass hopes to provide mothers with the nurturing care, support and education they deserve during their unique journey.

Cass currently works at Cabrini Hospital in Malvern as a postnatal midwife where she has the opportunity and privilege to provide midwifery care for many women and their families, helping them transition into their new roles as parents.

This dream of working with mothers and babies began in 2005 when she became a registered midwife, after five years of being a registered nurse. Cass has worked as a midwife in antenatal clinics, birth suite, Calm Birth instructor, postnatal ward, home visits, and public hospital.

In her spare time, Cass enjoys spending quality family time with her husband, two daughters and their Cavoodle. She loves natural health, Pilates and is always studying something to do with mothers and babies!

Guest Speaker – Lael Stone- Birth, Parenting and Sexuality Educator
(Lael will be our guest on the 4th session only)

Lael is a proud mother of three children who has worked as a Birth Attendant/Doula, Childbirth Educator, Counsellor,  a certified Aware Parenting Instructor  and certified Calmbirth Instructor for over 15 years.

She is deeply passionate about working postnatally with mothers and babies around healing trauma from birth, as well as working with families to develop more connection with the Aware Parenting model.

Lael is frequently found speaking at public events on conscious parenting and is the co-creator of The Aware Parenting Podcast. Her talents don’t stop there, Lael also teaches Sex Education to teenagers and runs classes for parents on how to have these tricky conversations with their kids. Her passion is to create wellness in families through connection, communication and education.

If after, booking you are unable to attend, you are welcome to nominate someone else to attend in your place at least 48 hours PRIOR to the commencement of the workshop. You will need to contact us by phone or email so we can help make that happen for you.

Mother and Baby Group
Please bring is a bunny rug  for your baby to lie on. We provide blankets however best to bring along a cloth you baba usually uses. You will need to bring a water bottle, comfy clothing and of course your baba.
