Sharon Clarke – Remedial Massage Therapist

I would like to introduce myself: my name is Sharon Clarke and I am the latest therapist to be warmly welcomed into the Nurtured Birth family.

I am a Remedial Massage Therapist and Pregnancy Massage Practitioner, specialising in both pregnancy and postnatal massage.

In what seems like a former life, I spent 20 years in the customer service and hospitality industry, working in Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. It was in Adelaide that my first two boys were born. It was on finally returning to Melbourne to settle down with my family it became clear to me my true interest lay in the field of massage. I began my training in massage in 2004 at Copeland College of Massage Therapy. I completed my studies whilst pregnant with my third son and I have been a Remedial Massage Therapist now for 13 years: how time flies!

I have worked in a variety of roles during this time: mobile home massage, sporting clubs & gyms, corporations & events and several therapy clinics. I have been a long term employee of Pregnancy Massage Australia and Copeland Massage Therapy Clinic. I continue to work in both mental health and drug and alcohol rehabilitation in the private hospital sector. After 10 years I still find providing massage in this area of healthcare extremely rewarding.

It wasn’t until 2009 that I began to focus my treatment towards the area of women’s health. I studied with Pregnancy Massage Australia to become a pregnancy massage practitioner and have continued to extend my skills with further training, including workshops with Suzanne Yates in 2010, Postnatal Massage in 2013, Partner Training & Labour Massage in 2014 and the Spinning Babies workshop in 2017.

I thoroughly enjoy offering pregnancy and postnatal massage, caring for my pregnant mums and providing them with bodies and minds that are healthy and strong, guiding them in the preparation for labour, birth and the early days of parenthood. I use my skills to treat clients with high risk pregnancies, and my remedial techniques to treat a variety of complicated presentations in pregnancy, such as pelvic girdle pain, pelvic instability, carpal tunnel, breech positioning. I have also recently begun my journey into offering fertility massage.

My massage style involves my own blend of techniques, gathered over my years of massaging, including pregnancy & postnatal, relaxation, deep tissue, sports, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, remedial massage, cupping and shiatsu. I believe my skills will be a good fit with Nurtured Birth and compliment the other Nurtured Birth therapists.

I am thrilled to now be a part of the Nurtured Birth team and I look forward to massaging away your stress, aches and pains and supporting you along your pregnancy pathway. I look forward to seeing you in the Windsor rooms in the near future…..
