Katie Wood – Osteopath and Midwife
Katherine is more known to us as Katie, she holds memberships with both the Australian Osteopathic Association & Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation. Katie is also a busy mum of two little darlings.
Katie graduated with a Bachelor of Clinical Science and a Masters of Osteopathy in 2006, working in Sydney during her initial years as an osteopath treating a wide range of patients from football players to professional musicians. Since moving to Melbourne she has continued to practice osteopathy in South Melbourne. Katie’s strong clinical and passionate interest in the osteopathic management of pregnant and postnatal women has lead Katie to further her education and become a Registered Midwife in 2014. Katie currently happily combines her osteopathic practice with her part-time work as a Monash Health Midwife.
Katie predominantly uses structural techniques such as soft tissue massage, muscle energy techniques and spinal manipulation to improve the structure and function of the body. However she has had additional training in gentler, more indirect techniques which she is able to apply when required.
Techniques are carefully and individually selected with the patient’s comfort always a priority. Katie strongly believes in the osteopathic principle that the body functions as a unit and so is focused equally on the patients physical, emotional and mental well being.
Katie’s areas of expertise include: – Pregnancy related conditions – Neck and shoulder dysfunction – Headaches and migraines – Lower back dysfunction – Sports injuries – Work related injuries – TAC, Workcover and GP Referred ‘Enhanced Primary Care’ Patients welcome.
