Janine Shifman – Physiotherapist and Doula
Janine brings over 18 years of dedicated experience as a physiotherapist, specializing in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and women’s health. Beyond her expertise, she’s also a certified birth doula, offering invaluable support to women during childbirth. Her distinctive background combines hands-on experience in childbirth support with her physiotherapy skills, enabling her to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care.
Having worked across diverse settings including private practice, clinical Pilates, and prominent public hospitals, Janine’s focus shifted to women’s health after embracing motherhood. In addition to her Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, she pursued additional training in pelvic floor rehabilitation, prolapse management, pelvic pain, and pre and postnatal physiotherapy.
Janine adopts a holistic approach to treatment, recognizing the intricate connection between pelvic floor health and overall well-being. Her expertise encompasses internal pelvic release work, a technique she refined under the mentorship of midwife Fiona Hallinan. Now, she offers this specialized approach to clients seeking birth preparation, recovery, and pelvic floor retraining.

Her areas of specialization include pelvic floor rehabilitation, prolapse management, pelvic pain, bladder and bowel dysfunction, spinal pain management, birth preparation, and birth support and debriefing.
