Breech Presentation

At Nurtured Birth we often treat pregnant clients whose baby is lying in a breech (head up) or transverse (sideways) presentation. Western medicine offers ECV procedures to try and turn the baby into a favourable presentation (head down) (ECV is a procedure done by an experienced doctor in a hospital. Using their hands on the belly as they attempt to gently turn the baby to head down.) However before one would attempt an ECV you would exhaust all other safe and natural ways to create space for the bubs to turn.

Acupuncture is a safe, natural and effective way to encourage your baby to turn, best achieved from week 34 to week 37 of your pregnancy.

In conjunction with our pregnancy massage and osteopathy treatments, we focus on creating more space for the baby to find their way to an optimal foetal positioning.

Acupuncture can help to move your baby into the best position for labour and birth. Your acupuncturist will facilitate this by stimulating points that are connected with the uterus through the internal meridian. When these specific points are stimulated, energy is able to move through the internal meridian and help stimulate babies movements. This encourages your baby to move into its best position for birth. Acupuncture also helps bring your mind and body into a state of relaxation and calm. This can help allow your body and mind to open and relax, assisting your baby to move into an optimal position for birth.

If you have a breech baby or posterior baby on board reach out to us so we can assist you to make a plan in how to encourage bubs to turn. Please contact us or book your appointment online today.
